Dr. Abdullah Şişik graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 2007. Between 2007-2012, he specialized in General Surgery at University of Health Sciences Umraniye Training and Research Hospital. He worked as a general surgeon at Bingöl State Hospital between 2013-2014. In 2014, he returned to the University of Health Sciences Umraniye Training and Research Hospital as a General Surgery Specialist.
Between 2014 and 2021, he worked specifically on bariatric surgery and colorectal surgery at Umraniye Training and Research Hospital. In 2015, he performed the first bariatric surgery in UHS Umraniye TRH and performed over 1000 bariatric surgeries during the time he worked in this institution. He supplied the residents specializing in the same institution to get acquainted with bariatric surgery and receive training in this field. He specialized in advanced laparoscopic surgery. He had the opportunity to work with Prof.Bruno Dillemans in Belgium in 2018 and 2019 on bariatric surgery.
In 2019, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor by the Inter-University Board. Specifically, he has more than 50 scientific articles published in international and national journals and nearly 100 papers presented in international and national congresses. He was among the founding editors of the scientific journal Archieves of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, which started its publication life in 2016. He became the editor-in-chief of the same scientific journal in 2020 and he still continues in this position.
